Abstract (en)

The device uses a running rail (2) fixed to the tunnel roof, which supports a pair of running carriages (3), each provided w an inflatable barrier (4) for sealing the tunnel cross-section on opposite sides of a detected fire, for isolating the latter. E barrier is filled with a non-combustible gas and coated on its inside with a fire retardant and incorporates an evacuation chamb (8) provided with breathing apparatus and a selectively closed opening (6) through which a fire extinguishing medium can be dire onto the fire.

Die Vorrichtung zur Menschenrettung und Brandbekämpfung für Auto- und Eisenbahntunnel bietet die Möglichkeit, von Brandrauch eingeschlossene Menschen mit Atemluft zu versorgen und einen Löschangriff vorzunehmen. Sie beschränkt den Schaden im Tunnel auf einen kleinen Abschnitt und ermöglicht es, daß Rettungskräfte bis zum Brandherd vordringen können. Sie besteht im wesentlichen aus einer an der Tunneloberseite befestigten Laufschiene, zwei Laufkatzen mit je einem Kissen und Zubehör. Die Wirkung besteht insbesondere darin, den vom Brand ursprünglich nicht betroffenen Teil des Tunnels abzuschotten, den Brand zu ersticken und Menschenleben zu retten. <IMAGE>
