[origin: FR2784692A1] A novel case hardenable constructional steel has the composition (by wt.) 0.16-0.25 % C, 0.90-1.40 % Cr, 0.90-1.50 % Mn, 0.30-1.10 % Ni, 0.010-0.050 % Al, \}0.20 % Mo, \}0.40 % Si, \}0.40 % Cu, \}0.050 % S, and has a KC value of 4.00-4.65, where KC = 8.34\*C % + 0.60\*Si % + Mn % - 1.69\*S % + 0.30\*Ni % + 0.64\*Cr % + 2.55\*Mo % + 0.37\*Cu %. Independent claims are also included for the following: (i) production of case hardened and heat treated parts of the above steel; (ii) steel parts, especially toothed wheels, having the above composition; and (iii) steel parts, especially toothed wheels, made by the above process.
