Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9934199A1] A sensor system is disclosed for detecting nitrogen oxides in a flowing gas stream, having a sensor oxidation catalyst capable of both oxidizing CO and NO in the gas sample to CO2 and NO2, respectively, which is incorporated into the system so as to oxidise the CO and NO in the flowing gas stream prior to the gas stream contacting a metal oxide semiconducting sensor; an n-type semiconducting metal oxide sensor, whose electrical resistance varies in relation to the concentration of nitrogen oxides in the flowing gas stream.
