Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2772651A1] Industrial waste is immobilized in an apatite ceramic matrix by introducing the waste into a homogeneous powder mixture of composition corresponding to a substituted hydroxyapatite, compacting and hydrothermally treating. Industrial waste is immobilized in an apatite ceramic matrix by (a) preparing a homogeneous powder mixture of calcium phosphates selected from Ca(H2PO4)2, Ca(H2PO4)2.H2O, CaHPO4, CaHPO4.2H2O, alpha - or beta -Ca3(PO4)2 in amorphous or apatite form and Ca4(PO4)2O, optionally together with a compound selected from alkali and alkaline earth metal phosphates, silicates, carbonates, nitrates, halides, oxides and hydroxides and silicon oxide, in quantities corresponding to formation of a hydroxyapatite of formula Ca10(PO4)6 (OH)2 in which Ca atoms may be partially replaced by atoms of alkali and/or alkaline earth metals other than Ca, the phosphate anions may be partially replaced by silicate anions and the OH anions may be partially replaced by halide anions; (b) introducing the waste into the mixture; (c) compacting at 100-500 MPa and at ambient temperature; and (d) hydrothermally treating the compacted piece in a sealed chamber containing an aqueous medium at 100-500 deg C for \-8 hr.
