[origin: DE19935074A1] The machine includes a stator (21) fastened in a casing, an induction rotor (23) with a winding (28) fastened on a shaft (13), and a transformer (29) with a primary and secondary windings (30; 31) at the side of the rotor. The windings are arranged on a core (36,41,47, 35,42,48) made from soft magnetic material, and are magnetically coupled via an air gap (3). The transformer is arranged between the rotor and a bearing shield (17) terminating the casing (10) of the generator. The primary winding (30) and the corresponding stationary core (36,41,47) are arranged at the bearing shield.
