[origin: EP0926874A1] A method of and equipment for charging calls in a telecommunications system (1) providing wired and/or wireless telecommunication services (2; 3). Signalling information (40) identifying a calling and called party is processed for call charging purposes (41, 42). The signalling information is processed for charging rates applicable at the time of and using such system resources required for establishing the call. The call is charged (45) following one of the applicable charging rates (43). Users of the telecommunications system may be provided with a charging rate right, wherein the call is set up (44) and charged (45) by applying an applicable charging rate selected (43) in accordance with such charging rate right. <IMAGE>
