[origin: EP1044599A1] The trays comprises of a number of troughs (12) that are filled with a mineral aggregate (4). Communications tracks connect troughs such that irrigation channels are formed. A substrate layer (2) is placed above the tray. Seeds/seedlings are placed wit the substrate and set root within the mineral aggregate.
