Abstract (en)
An autotransformer (10) has a first output (10a) for a starting voltage and a second output (10b) for a working voltage lower than the starting voltage. The switching contacts (12) of a relay (24) connect a load of lamps (14) selectively to the first output or the second output of the autotransformer. A timer (T) is reset and started when it receives an input signal and activates a driver circuit (21) of the relay (24) when it reaches a predetermined count. To ensure a lower electrical-energy consumption and a reliable supply to the lamps even in the presence of conditions unfavourable to the maintenance of the operative state, a current detector (15) and a voltage detector (19) are provided, as well as comparators (18, 20) for resetting and restarting the timer (T) when the current absorbed by the lamp or the supply voltage of the lamps fall below respective predetermined values. <IMAGE>
