[origin: WO0024196A1] In a reproduction device (1) with magnetic tape transport means (17) for transporting a magnetic tape (4) at a first transport speed (V1) and at least a second transport speed (V2) which is higher than the first transport speed (V1), and reproduction means (8) for reproducing a digital video signal from a magnetic tape (4) transported at the first transport speed (V1) by the magnetic tape transport means (17), and control means (16) for controlling the magnetic tape transport means (17) for periodically alternately transporting the magnetic tape (4) at the first transport speed (V1) during a first time interval (T1) and at the second transport speed (V2) during a second time interval (T2), and with supply means (26) for supplying a reproduced digital video signal, the reproduction means (8) are adapted to reproduce a digital video signal recorded on a magnetic tape (4) and comprising an MPEG transport stream (MPEG Standard (System): ISO/IEC13.818-1), and the supply means (26) are adapted to supply a reproduced digital video signal only during first time intervals (T1).
