Abstract (en)
Continuous metal profile production, by continuous casting of metal between its liquidus and solidus temperatures, thixoform and shaping to a finished profile, is new. Metal strands are shaped in a continuous casting plant by (a) solidifying metal (MF) in the region between the liquidus and solidus temperatures within the mould (DK) to form a structure which is suitable for thixoforming and which comprises residual m distributed between globular grains; (b) thixoforming the resulting metal strand (MS) during further movement after leaving the mould (DK); and (c) further shaping the solidified strand to produce a finished profile. An Independent claim is also included f equipment for carrying out the above process.

Ein Verfahren zur Formung von Metallsträngen aus strangförmigen Metallflüssen (MF). Diese werden in einer Stranggießanlage mit Behälter (BH) der Schmelze (SM) in einer, mit diesem Behälter (BH) verbundenen, an diesen angeflanschten Durchlaufkokille (DK) geformt, und nach dem Austritt aus dieser weiter geformt. Das Gefüge des strangförmigen Metallflusses (MF) wird innerhalb der Durchlaufkokille (DK) in einen, für das Thixo-Formen geeigneten Zustand mit globulistischer Körnung und zwischen dieser verteilter Restschmelze im Bereich zwischen Liquidus- und Solidustemperatur gebracht. Erstarrend wird der Metallstrang (MS) nach seinem Austritt aus der Durchlaufkokille (DK), während seiner Weiterbewegung thixogeformt und daran anschließend im erstarrten Zustand weiter zum fertigen Profil (FP) geformt. <IMAGE>
