[origin: EP1046447A1] A rotary slide plate (10), with melt passage openings (16.1, 16.2) surrounded by wear resistant inserts (14.1, 14.2) having trailing section width at least as great as the opening diameter, is new. A rotary slide plate (10), made of a refractory ceramic matrix material (12), has two molten metal passage openings (16.1, 16.2) surrounded by one or more wear resistant inserts (14.1, 14.2) which are flush with the main plate surface and which have a width equal to or greater than the opening diameter at least at their trailing sections (14.11) relative to the plate rotational direc (D).
