[origin: WO9936960A1] The invention relates to a cooling arrangement for cooling an infrared detector. The cooling arrangement functions in an operational mode and a standby mode. In the operational mode, the infrared detector is cooled down to an operational temperature; in the standby mode, the infrared detector is cooled down to a non-operational standby temperature in order to preclude disintegration of the detector elements.
