Abstract (en)
A heat shrinkable plastic film is applied to an article on a pallet. A warm air generator mounted on a movable carriage form annular heating zone around the article. An extendable hood mounted above the article confines the warm air during the shrinking the film. The air moves along two paths to either exit through an upper part of the hood or through a space between the generato and the hood. An Independent claim is also included for a machine for performing a process as above which has a warm air generator and distributor and a hood retraction device mounted on a vertically movable carriage. The retraction device is connected between a solid fixed upper part and a movable flexible lower part of the hood. Preferred Features: The opening in the upper part of the hood has a valve adjusted manually or by a pneumatic, hydraulic or electric actuator.

Procédé et machine de rétraction d'une gaine souple formée par un film en matière plastique thermorétractable recouvrant une charge palettisée, et consistant à canaliser l'air chaud contre la gaine 2 en freinant l'effet de convection naturelle par un réglage de l'ouverture supérieure 9 de sortie de la hotte 7, et par un espacement ménagé entre le hotte 7 et un cadre de rétraction 4, la circulation de l'air chaud s'effectuant par un premier trajet d'échappement à travers la première lumière 9 à la partie supérieure, et par un deuxième trajet d'échappement latéral à travers une deuxième ouverture 20 au voisinage dudit espacement. <IMAGE>
