Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9937233A1] A method and apparatus for aseptically packaging and dispensing live material are disclosed. The apparatus provides a duplex package comprising an inner container and an outer container completely enclosing the inner container. An access portal transits the outer container and is operative to aseptically introduce a labile fluid or solid from outside the outer container. The inner container is detachably connected to the access portal. Additionally, the outer container is removable. After sterilizing the duplex package, a labile fluid or solid can be introduced through the access portal into the inner container. The access portal can be sealed and the duplex package can be introduced into a sterile environment. The outer container can be removed in the sterile environment. Then a sterile operator can remove the inner container and dispense the labile fluid or solid.
