Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19802238A1] Sewage sludge is first subjected to a conventional oxidative preconditioning with hydrogen peroxide under acidic conditions and then subjected to an inorganic postconditioning by adding calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) to adjust the pH to 9-11 before mechanical dewatering. Preconditioning comprises adding substoichiometric amounts of hydrogen peroxide and iron ions at a pH of 5 or less to effect catalytic partial oxidation.
