[origin: WO0031503A1] The invention relates to a measuring device for measuring a base area of stairs at the assembly area of the stairs to be constructed. Said measuring device essentially consists of a laser telemeter which emits a laser beam. Said laser telemeter is coupled with a transit theodolite and forms a measuring unit which can be mounted on a support. Said support can be arranged on the stair well. The laser beam of said laser telemeter can be directed at the corners of the triangles to be measured by pivoting about a vertical axis and by tilting in a vertical plane.
