[origin: EP1050289A1] The stretcher, when laid out flat, is of elongated rectangular shape with rounded corners. The corners are formed by separat bent frame members (15,17) with joints (12) on the short sides of the rectangular. The bent frame members are plugged (18) into straight side members (10,11) and there hinges (2) joining these frame members the central side frame members (16). Flat flaps (13) are joined to the frame members, with a narrow gap (14) between them, to fo supports for the casualty. Control levers (4,41) on the bent end frames pull on control wires (40) to release the hinges.
