[origin: DE19802800A1] A cigarette packet has a base (16) which is strengthened by a double folded layer (19-22). The packet has a further strengthening strip (28) around its bottom edge. One end (17) of the packet has an opening facility which operates together with a Z-fold (29). A free grip strip (42) provides a means by which a rip strip (40) may be withdrawn from the end.
