[origin: DE19854959A1] The invention relates to a sensor for contactlessly measuring torques, especially on rotating elements. The sensor is characterised by at least one rotor electrode, which is arranged on the element and rotates with the same. Said rotor electrode has electroconductive, electroconductively interconnected strips which are diagonal to a symmetry element of the rotating element and which are arranged so that they are parallel with each other. The strips are evenly arranged on the rotating element in such a way as to form a periodic pattern, the mutual distance between them vertical to their longitudinal direction being selected in such a way that the electrical stray fields that are formed at their edge almost do not overlap. The sensor is also characterised by a stator electrode which is set apart from the rotor electrode by a gap and which at least partially covers the rotor electrode, and by a device by which means it is possible to measure the capacity of a coupling between the rotor electrode and the at least one stator electrode which is capacitive in pairs and is determined essentially by the electrical stray fields.
