Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1052488A1] The invention makes an estimation of the average couple over an engine cycle by use of a sensor for measurement of the instantaneous angular velocity and an algorithm that integrates the engine dynamic and the combustion model. The invention transforms the velocity signal into frequency space and calculates the couple harmonics from the velocity harmonics. Device a first device (7) for carrying out a Fourier transform (FFT) of the flywheel instantaneous angular velocity to yiel harmonics up to the npth for each engine cycle, a dynamic model (8) of the engine crankshaft with torsion, connected to the firs device to determine harmonics of the average fuel couple as a function of the angular velocity harmonics. A second device (9) provides a correlation between the average gas couple and its harmonics.
