[origin: WO9939923A1] The invention relates to a cast wheel rim (1) and to a method for the production thereof. The cast wheel rim (1) has a light metal rim body (2) configured as a composite body, comprising a hub area (3), a crown area (5) and a wall or rib area (4) located in-between the other two areas and having for instance spokes (9). At least one shaped body (8, 8', 8'') is cast in the light metal of the single-piece cast rim body (2). Said shaped body has a mean specific weight that is smaller the weight of the light metal used in casting, i.e. consisting of foamed aluminum.
