[origin: GB2321133A] An apparatus for placing components from holders onto a substrate, comprising movable component holders 12, 14, 16, 18 on a first linear support 10 which is movably mounted by mounts 6, 8 on second and third linear supports 2, 4. The first linear support may be oriented non-perpendicularly to the second and third supports due to the independent actuation of the movable mounts and the pivoting and sliding mounting of the first linear support in the movable mounts. One movable mount may allow only pivoting of an end of the first linear support. The apparatus allows variation of the orientation # of a component to be placed on the substrate without the need of a further motor for rotation of the movable component holders. The apparatus may have more than one linear support mounting component holders and also may nave more than one pair of parallel linear supports.
