[origin: FR2773460A1] The probe includes a transducer mounted to move to and fro within the casing, behind the acoustic window. The probe comprises a body (1) within which there is a main chamber (4) holding the ultrasound transmission and reception assembly. This includes an acoustic mono-transducer mounted on a frame for to and fro movement under the action of a drive motor (9). The chamber is closed by probe nose (2) with an acoustic window comprising a material which is impermeable to liquid, but which is transparent to the acoustic signals transmitted and detected by the transducer. The to and fro movement of the transducer is in a direction parallel to the acoustic window (8), the beam striking the window along a normal.
