Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19807063A1] In the production of capillaries of a constant inner diameter over their whole length, where only an insignificant part of the particle sorbent bed has to be heated, the sorbent bed is defined by a solidified zone, formed by heat. Independent claims are also included for: (a) packed capillaries containing a chiral sorbent bed; and (b) the production of the packed capillaries, where a conventional silicate fused capillary is closed at one end with a frit. A reservoir is secured at the other end of the capillary. The capillary is filled with a prepared suspension of sorbent particle in a solvent, taken by pressure filtration from a reservoir. The solvent is exchanged for water, and a narrow zone of capillary is heated at both ends of the sorbent bed to form a frit on both sides of the bed.
