Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9941331A1] The invention relates to a method for cracking hydrocarbons, according to which in a first process step a cracking stock (I) is subjected to essentially catalytic cracking on a fluidized fixed-bed catalyst (FCC method). To obtain the greatest possible flexibility the invention aims especially to allow for the use of liquefied gasses and residual compounds with a cut point of approximately 600 DEG C, and at the same time to obtain an optimal yield structure, especially high selectivity in the production of light olefins. To this end the invention provides for the reaction products obtained in the first process step or fractions thereof to be subjected at least partly to essentially thermal cracking in a second process step, and for the cracking products obtained in this way not to be subjected together with further cracking stock (I) to subsequent, largely catalytic cracking.
