[origin: WO9937965A1] A direct expansion contact heat exchanger (10) which has a plurality of inter-connected overlapping heat exchange elements (14). The heat exchange elements are removably located within a housing (11). The housing (11) has an inlet (15) and an outlet (16) so that in use the flow of fluid through the housing (11) between adjacent overlapping heat exchange elements (14) can occur. The heat exchange elements (14) are connectable to heat exchange medium via an inlet (18) and an outlet (19). The heat exchange elements (14) can be substantially disc shaped with a sector thereof removed.
