The device has a housing (1) contg. a drive with a motor and a drive element driven by the motor with which at least one of compression parts of a compression unit can be moved wrt. the other during a compression process. Die Vorrichtung hat ein Gehäuse (1), in dem ein Antrieb (4) untergebracht ist, der einen Motor (17) und ein von ihm angetriebenes Antriebselement (50) aufweist. Mit ihm ist eines von zwei Preßteilen (39, 53) beim Preßvorgang gegenüber dem anderen Preßteil (53) einer Preßeinheit (40) bewegbar. Um die Vorrichtung so auszubilden, daß mit ihr bei konstruktiv einfacher Ausbildung und Handhabung eine einwandfreie Verpressung gewährleistet ist, ist die Vorrichtung als Elektrowerkzeug ausgebildet. An sein Gehäuse (1) schließen hintereinander das Antriebselement (50) und die Preßeinheit (40) an. Dadurch ergibt sich eine konstruktiv einfache Ausbildung. Die Vorrichtung eignet sich zum Einsatz im Sanitärbereich zum unlösbaren Verbinden von Rohren, Rohrstücken und dgl. <IMAGE>
