An iron comprises a base which is heated by burning a fuel-air gas mixt in a catalyst. The catalyst (8) is located in the ba (2), and the latter has adjustable or closable outlet openings (4) for the removal of reaction water produced by the combustion process. The reaction water is in the form of steam.

Die Bügelsohle des Bügeleisens wird durch Verbrennung eines aus einem Brennstoff und Luft gebildeten Gasgemisches innerhalb eines Katalysators beheizt.Erfindungsgemäß ist der Katalysator nahe der Bügelsohle angeordnet und die Bügelsohle besitzt Auslaßöffnungen für die Abführung des beim Verbrennungsvorgang entstehenden Reaktionswassers, vorzugsweise in Form von Wasserdampf, womit eine Befeuchtung des Bügelgutes ermöglicht und somit die Funktion eines Dampfbügeleisens erhalten wird. <IMAGE>
