Abstract (en)
The polishing pad, designed to be mounted on a rotary support conforming to the shape of the lens to be polished, consists of a backing layer (10) of polymer film, woven or non-woven fabric, covered by a surface flock layer of fibres (12) attached to it by adhesive (14). The fibres are 0.5 mm long and 5 - 25 microns in diameter, and the whole pad is in the form of a disc 0.8 - 0.9 mm thick.
