Process has the following steps: in a process station (12-14), reading of dispatch data and attachment of a machine readable marking to the mail item and item storage; transport of the marked item (A) to a remote delivery station (10) with a franking machine (60) and transfer of mail data from the marking to franking machine memory (69); franking of the mail using data stored in the memory. An Independent claim is made for a post processing system using the above process.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein System und ein Verfahren zur Postgutverarbeitung, mit automatischer Postgutannahme in Aufgabestationen und mit einer gestaffelte Postgutverarbeitung, umfassend ein Erfassung von Versanddaten und Versehen des Postgutes mit einer maschinenlesbaren Markierung und Postaufbewahrung in den Aufgabestationen (12 bis 19), Transport des markierten Postgutes (A) zu einer entfernten Abgabestation (10, 11) mit mindestens einer Frankiereinrichtung (60) und Übertragen der Versanddaten zugeordnet der Markierung in einen Speicher (69) der Frankiereinrichtung sowie, Frankierung des Postgutes (A) in der Abgabestation (10, 11) entsprechend den Daten, die im Speicher (69) zugeordnet zur Markierung gespeichert vorliegen. <IMAGE>
