Abstract (en)
A suture anchor system has a suture (59) straight end inserted into a hole (58) formed in bone, and cured adhesive (52) filling the hole to adhere to or interdigitate with the surfaces of both the suture and the hole. The suture may be a single suture or a pair of sutures twisted or braided together, and the inserted end may be straight, or may be bent or formed with a knot before insertion. The hole surface area is pref. at least equal to that of the suture end, and the hole mouth is of reduced dia.. The adhesive is a bone cement, PMMA, light-cured or other resin, cyanoacrylate compsn., grout, filling adhesive, bone paste or bone plug.
