A thread braking device for weft feeder (1), comprising a braking means (2,3) which is supported frontally and coaxially with respect to a drum of a weft feeder in order to directly or indirectly engage the thread that unwinds from the drum, the braking means (2,3) being actuated by at least one linear motor (M) which allows the mutual approach or spacing of the braking means with respect to the drum in order to modulate the braking of the weft thread. <IMAGE>
