[origin: EP1059623A2] The spacer (10), for mounting a panel (11) and the like at a gap (x) from a supporting wall, has at least one passage opening (14) for a mounting bolt (12) to pass through. Clamping surfaces (15) to clamp the spacer (10) within an opening (17) of the panel (11) are outside the passage opening (14), at least generally at right angles to its longitudinal axis (23). The clamping surfaces (15) have webs (18), which distort when the bolt is screwed home, to increase the clamping action. The spacer is of a suitable metal or plastics which is stable but can be distorted.
