[origin: DE19804566A1] The invention relates to a device for detecting flats or balancing failures on at least one body capable of rolling, especially on conductive wheels of a rail vehicle. The body(ies) capable of rolling are placed on a support (1), especially a rail, on which they can move. At least one detection member is provided for determining on a measurement section of said support (1) whether the body engages the support (1). The detection member has at least two detectors (2). The support (1) is not interrupted on the measurement section at least in one direction. The invention is characterised in that the detectors (2) of a detection member are placed at a distance from each other on the measurement section along the support (1). The invention also relates to a corresponding method for detecting flats or balancing failures on at least one body capable of rolling.
