Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9945685A1] An audio path selecting means for wireless communication is adapted to function with a portable terminal to which more than one audio device may be connected, for example including one or more hands-free sets connected by a wired or a wireless connection, a loudspeaker and/or a microphone found in the portable device and an external loudspeaker and/or microphone connected to the portable device or the communication card. The audio path selection means receives information about available audio devices and determines which one of the audio devices should be used for sound input/output, preferably according to a priority list found in the audio path selecting means. The audio path selecting means may also be adapted to act on manual instructions that override the priority list. The audio path selecting means may be implemented on a PCMCIA card or in a terminal that is adapted to wireless communication.
