Abstract (en)
[origin: CA2282697A1] The clipper (10) of the present invention includes a clipper handle (12) with a first component (14) and a second component (16) which are moveable with respect to each other. A nail holder (18) extends from the clipper handle (12), the nail holder (18) having a curved cross section. A slot (20) for receiving the fingernail to be clipped is defined in the nail holder (18). A blade (22) is slidably mounted with respect to the nail holder (18), and has a cross section which corresponds to the curved cross section of the nail holder (18). The blade (22) terminates in a blade edge (24). The nail holder (18) and the blade (22) are each mounted to one of the first and second components (14, 16). Therefore, when relative movement is effected between the handle components (14, 16), a sliding action takes place between the nail holder (18) and the blade (22) to cut a nail which has been inserted into the slot (20) in the nail holder (18). The curved cross section of the nail holder (18) and the blade (22) ensures that the nail will be cut in an ideally rounded configuration.
