[origin: DE19809785A1] A radioimmune conjugate for the treatment of HIV infections comprises a monoclonal antibody against an epitope of either surface glycoprotein gp120 or transmembrane glycoprotein gp41 of HIV-1 coupled with a radioactive isotope of I, P, Y or Sr. A radioimmune conjugate for the in vivo elimination of virus-replicating cells in HIV patients comprises: (i) a human or murine, optionally humanized, monoclonal antibody against an epitope of either surface glycoprotein gp120 or transmembrane glycoprotein gp41 of HIV-1 as the immunologically active component; <131>I, <32>P, <90>Y or <89>Sr as the radioactive component; and (ii) pharmaceutical carriers and/or adjuvants.
