Abstract (en)
A hollow metallic component (2) e.g. of aluminum, with an open end (17) is placed into a pre-heated open tool (1), parts of closing mandrels (10,11) forming closing cylinders (8,9) are fitted sealed into the component ends, and the tool is closed. A heated pressure fluid (14), e.g. air or nitrogen, is introduced via a mandrel into the component, which is now heated and plastified. The pressure fluid presses the component material into a forming nest (5) in the tool. Forming is carried out at temperatures of between 200oC and 400oC, and a pressure of between 150 and 500 bar.

Bei diesem Verfahren und der dabei eingesetzten Vorrichtung gelangt ein mehrteiliges Werkzeug (1) mit einem Formnest (5) zum Einsatz, das über eine Heizung (7) aufwärmbar ist. Ferner ist das im Werkzeug (1) umformbare Werkstück (2) vorab erwärmbar. Das vorgewärmte Werkstück (2) wird dann in das aufgeheizte offene Werkzeug (1) gelegt und danach werden in die Enden (17) des Werkstücks (2) Bestandteile von Schließzylindern (8, 9) bildende Schließdorne (10, 11) eingeführt. Nach dem Schließen des Werkzeugs (1) wird über den Schließdorn (11) ein erwärmtes Druckfluid (14) in das warmgehaltene Werkstück (2) eingeleitet und dadurch bei vergleichsweise geringem Innendruck, geringen Zuhalte- und Umformkräften das Werkstück (2) an das Formnest (5) angepasst. <IMAGE>
