A throttle plate (16) is pivotable in the cross-section (17) of a pipe system. When in its closed position, the throttle plate leaves open a residual cross-section through which fluid to be throttled can flow. The throttle plate may be arranged in the narrowest section of a pipe section with a veturi-shaped cross-sectional profile, esp. an inlet manifold. The throttle plate may be arranged in the inlet region of the intake manifold. The residual cross-section may be ring-shaped and between 10 and 40 per cent of the total area of the cross-section. An Independent claim is included for a method of controlling a throttle in an internal combustion engine.

Leitungssystem mit Drosselklappe, insbesondere Ansaugtrakt einer Brennkraftmaschine. Die Drosselklappe ist derart gestaltet, daß sie in der Schließstellung den zu drosselnden Querschnitt (17) nur in einem Bereich (31) abdeckt und einen Bereich (30) frei läßt, so daß weiterhin Luft durch das Ansaugrohr fließen kann. Dieser Zustand eignet sich insbesondere bei geringeren Drehzahlen, um das Ansauggeräusch der Brennkraftmaschine zu dämpfen. Durch die senkrecht zur Strömung stehende Drosselklappe in diesem Bereich wird eine Reflexion von Schallwellen in den Ansaugtrakt der Brennkraftmaschine ermöglicht. Auf diese Weise entsteht eine kostengünstige Möglichkeit zur Beeinflussung des Ansauggeräusches, die auch für ein Sounddesign verwendet werden kann. <IMAGE>
