Abstract (en)
[origin: FR2788635A1] The invention concerns a high-performance laser cooling device, for example for cooling systems such as low noise detection and amplification systems. The inventive device comprises for example a laser cooling material (MRL1) for laser cooling a system (SYS) thermally coupled with said material. The interaction of the material with a laser pump (PMP1) of predetermined frequency w1 results in the spontaneous isotropic emission of protons of frequency omega 1 identical to the frequency of the pump beam and photons of frequency omega 2 higher than frequency omega 1 of the pump beam, the emission of the latter protons causing the cooling material to be cooled. The inventive device further comprises recirculating means for sending back towards the laser cooling material (MRL1) the frequency omega 1 photons. In one particular embodiment, the recirculating means comprise a shell (COQ) spherical in shape, at the centre of which is placed the cooling material (MRL1), thermally insulated from the cooling material. The shell is coated with a treating coat (TRT1) reflecting the omega 1 frequency protons and with a coat (TRT2) converting the omega 2 frequency protons into omega 1 frequency protons, the converting coat covering the reflecting treatment coat (TRT1). The inventive device considerably enhances the cooling efficiency of laser cooling devices.
