Abstract (en)
The mortar flows through a tube (12) whose external diameter is considerably less than the internal diameter of the blind bore (24) in the solid masonry (26). A grommet (20) fits on the end of the tube and has a radial flange (22) whose external diameter is only very slightly less than the internal diameter of the bore, forming a piston. As the mortar flows through the tube into the space (28) between the flange and the closed end of the bore. The piston and tube are pushed back toward the mouth of the bore.
