Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19813625C1] The invention relates to a method for connecting roofing strips (12, 14) mounted with overlapping edges, wherein a driven vehicle (10) is guided along the overlapping area (16) of the roofing strips (12, 14) to be connected. The roofing strips (12, 14) are connected by a follow-up welding apparatus (48). The invention also relates to a vehicle for implementing said method. In order to simplify production and enhance the quality of connections, at least one roofing strip (12, 14) has at least one guide line (18 or 20) running parallel to the edge and indicating the motion path of the vehicle (10), said guide line being detected by at least one sensor (26) while the vehicle (10) is moving. A first signal is generated that changes when the vehicle (10) deviates from a given motion path. A control unit (60) generates control signals for a steering unit (58) of the vehicle (10) when the first signal is changed.
