Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1066775A1] The chair (1) has a seat support (3) for a seat plate (2) and a back rest support (4) for a back rest (4'). The seat plate can pivot about a first horizontal hinge axis at the front and a parallel second rear hinge axis. The back rest can pivot about a third central hinge axis connected to the seat support. A helical compression spring (6) under the seat plate produces a bias force, to pull the seat plate up and the back rest forwards. The back rest support has an extension (41) forming a lever arm, which extends forwards over the third hinge axis. The end of the spring opposite the seat rest is supported on the back rest extension. The seat plate has room to move vertically opposite the seat support or the back rest support.
