Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9950286A2] The present invention provides a method and means for inhibiting lipid oxidation. In accordance with the present invention, a number of novel lipid oxidation suppressant peptides, derived from apolipoprotein A-IV, have been made. These peptides possess lipid oxidation inhibiting properties which when administered orally or intravenously, can be used to decrease atherosclerosis. Since the peptides comprise specific portions of the native apo A-IV protein, there should be no immunogenicity problems associated with their administration to humans.
