Abstract (en)
At the appts. to neutralize acid in the pages of books, they are placed in a vacuum chamber and treated with a powder which develops a leach. The powder is delivered in air streams by jets (12,13) which have an out-of-round outlet shape. The jets (12,13) have different outlet shapes, a circular arc shape, and different widths at the center zones than in the edge zones. The jets (12,13) are set at variable angles in a range of 6-20 degrees . The treatment chamber has an outlet opening, with a connection for a suction channel with a suction axial fan (10). The suction channel has return channels to the jets (12,13) to give a closed circuit. The jets (12,13) have an indirect connection to the supply containers for the powder which can develop a leach. The powder is pref. an alkaline hydrite. The books are placed on a trolley, with a reciprocating movement, with a program-controlled and variable movement speed.
