[origin: WO9950397A2] Enzymatically active variants of nuclease from Serratia marcescens (nuclease [S.m.]) are disclosed, which do not dissociate into subunits. These variants of nuclease [S.m.] are obtainable by amino acid substitutions in positions which form the contact area between the subunits of native nuclease [S.m.]. These variants are especially suitable for immobilizing nuclease [S.m] onto base supports.
