Abstract (en)
A variable displacement compressor has a discharge pressure zone, the pressure of which is a discharge pressure, and a supply passage for supplying gas from the discharge pressure zone to a crank chamber. An inlet valve mechanism opens or closes the supply passage to control the pressure in the crank chamber. An adjusting mechanism is located in the supply passage between the inlet valve mechanism and the crank chamber. The adjusting mechanism gradually varies the amount of gas supplied from the discharge pressure zone to the crank chamber through the supply passage. This results in a rapid shift to the minimum displacement and operates the compressor with optimum efficiency. <IMAGE>
