[origin: WO9952678A1] The invention relates to a clamping system for fixing workpieces which comprises two or more clamping jaws (2, 3). The clamping jaws (2, 3) are fitted with form-fit elements, such as protuberances (11), which are positioned at regular intervals and project outward from corresponding contact surfaces (6). In a preparatory step complementary recesses (18) which serve as coupling elements are embodied on the workpiece, for example by stamping. The clamping system provided for in the invention results in mixed clamping of the workpiece by a combined friction and positive fit, which allows for the transmission of substantial retention forces while taking up little space at the level of both the workpiece and clamping elements.
