[origin: DE19816497A1] Dibenzyl carbonates are produced by reacting a dialkyl carbonate with a benzyl alcohol in the presence of a basic catalyst and by separating slightly volatile constituents of the reaction mixture and the catalyst. The inventive method enables benzyl carbonates to be produced in a simple manner, provides good yields and does not require any particularly technical safety arrangements.
