[origin: WO9953657A1] A communications system for transmitting data from data transmitters to data receivers comprises fax-transmission stations (2) which are allocated to the data transmitters, a central server (5) and data processing stations (13) which are allocated to the data receivers. The fax-transmitting stations (2) are linked to a fax-receiving station (4) of the server (5) by a data network. The data processing stations (13) are linked to the server (5) by a data network. The server (5) comprises a data transmitter data base (10) which contains entries at least relating to the identity of the data transmitters connected and a data receiver data base (12) containing entries for at least the e-mail address and identity of the data receivers connected. The server (5) also comprises an automatic web page generator (7) which converts the data in the incoming faxes into web pages (9) and an automatic e-mail generator (11). The e-mails generated by said e-mail generator (11) contain links to the web pages (9) generated by the web page generator (7).
